In response, the "Law Concerning the Promotion of Tsunami Countermeasures" was enacted to protect the lives of the people from tsunamis, and November 5 of every year was designated as "Tsunami Disaster Prevention Day" in the law.

Tsunamis are disasters that can greatly reduce human suffering through prompt and appropriate evacuation.
For this reason, it is very important that each citizen understands the characteristics of tsunamis and takes appropriate actions to save lives.

■ POINT If you feel a tremor or see or hear a tsunami warning, run away from the tsunami immediately ！
If you feel a strong tremor or a weak but long tremor, or if you see or hear a "tsunami warning" even if you do not feel an earthquake, leave the coast as soon as possible and Evacuate to the highest place possible.

■ POINT It is not enough to evacuate after you see a tsunami. ！
Tsunami waves come very fast, so it is important to evacuate as soon as possible, even if it is a minute or a second.

■ POINT Even a tsunami 30cm high can be dangerous ！
A tsunami 30cm high can make walking difficult, and a tsunami 50cm high can wash away cars.

■ POINT 2nd wave ・ Watch out for 3rd wave ！
In some cases, after the 1st wave receded, people returned home and were swallowed by the 2nd wave, causing damage.
Do not enter areas at risk of tsunami inundation until the tsunami warning ・ is lifted and safety is confirmed.
