The Ryoma Quartet is an old and new band consisting of four members who blend the traditional Japanese instruments Tsugaru Shamisen, Shinobue, and Tatsuzumi, and the violin, which is a part of the Western tradition.
All members are among the best players in Japan, and after various careers, they have said, "I want more people to hear the traditional instruments that I love. I would like to transmit it to the outside world. With this strong desire and determination, they formed the Ryoma Quartet. The quartet expresses a new type of oriental sound based on classical music and incorporating modern music such as rock, funk, and electro. Their uniqueness transcends scenes and genres. 2016 saw their major debut from Pony Canyon, with three albums and one single released. In addition to performing in Spain's "Japan-Spain Exchange 400th Anniversary" 3-city tour, Thailand's "JAPAN EXPO THAILAND" (also in charge of the theme song), Brunei, New York, etc., and in 2020, from corona infection measures, "JAPAN EXPO MALAYSIA", the UK Japan Festival, and Bulgarian Embassy-sponsored events, etc., he has participated in online live performances, etc. In addition, he has been receiving offers to perform live online at events such as the "Japan Expo Malaysia," the Japan Festival in the UK, and events hosted by the Embassy of Bulgaria.
